This agroecological garden is situated in the village of Porto Novo (South Benin). Cassava, maize, tomato, amaranth, black-eyed peas, goussi and vemonia are cultivated on this plot of 0.2 hectares. Techniques like mulching are employed with Mucuna pruriens to fertilize the soil. To further improve the fertility of the terrain, plants such as Gliricidia sepium, Leucaena lecocephala, and Senna siamea, and leguminous vegetables like black-eyed peas, soya, Angolan peas, Bambara bean etc. To combat insects and parasites a mix based on Hyptis suaveolens leaves, extracts of Neem seeds and ash is prepared.
