Khenziri is a fig (Ficus carica L.) variety from Djebba El Olia, a small village perched on the Mont El Gorraa in Tunisia.
The Djebba fig, known throughout the country, is a flagship product of this small Tunisian commune. Prized for the richness of its terroir and the know-how associated with fig processing, Djebba hosts an exceptional local biodiversity, with more than 17 local varieties of fig exclusively grown in Djebba.
Khenziri is a drought resistant fig variety which makes it resilient and a reliable source of income for the inhabitants as it is well adapted to the environment.
The tree is 2-5m tall with small leaves and gives a green fruit of 3-4cm diameter in autumn.
