Khartoumi Fig

Khartoumi is a fig variety (Ficus Carica L.) of Djebba El Olia, a small village in Tunisia which is home of 17 figs varieties grown in this small town of 6000 inhabitants.
Djebba is recognized as Global Important Agricultural Heritage System due to its rich agrobiodiversity and its “hanging gardens” where many traditional agricultural techniques, food processing knowledge and natural resources common sharing remain.
Khartoumi is one of the rare varieties of Djebba that is further developed in the region due to its high adaptation to the environment which makes it a resilient and reliable variety for figs producers.
This variety is ideal for drying or cooking into jam, which makes it consumable all year long.
The Khartoumi tree is 3-5m high and gives in autumn a green fruit of 2-5 cm diameter with a spinning top shape.
