The Tofi Memorial Grammar School Garden is located at the Tofi Memorial Grammar School. This garden is part of the Slow Food Gardens in Africa project. It is located in the town of Gboko, under the Gboko local government in the state of Benue. The garden covers 2 ha. 240 students aged 13-18 and 7 teachers participate in the project, under the supervision of Igyuve A.J., the school’s agriculture teacher. The students brought the onion, cabbage, cucumber, carrot, okra, soy bean seeds/seedlings from their homes. They are taught how to use crop rotation to maintain and improve the soil fertility, and at the time of harvest, they learn how to harvest the products correctly. They use farm tools like cutlasses, hoes, shovels, rakes, watering cans. They make use of manure to fertilize the soil. The harvest is shared among the students and teachers.
