The Adventist Youth Farmers’ Association (AYFA) members have situated their Slow Food garden in Matotoka town, the principal town in Tane chiefdom, Tonkolili district. The association was formed by local members of the Seventh Day Adventist church with the aim of training unemployed young people who did not have a formal education; helping increase the access of communities to quality affordable food; and also providing financial assistance to vulnerable members of the community. The association has previously been involved in the large-scale cultivation of cassava and potato and plans to establish a production of garri, a commonly eaten cassava dish.
