Adena full primary school is a government school found in SNNPRS, Hadiya zone, Gombora district, located approximately 32 Km to the northwest of Hosanna. There are 679 male and 863 female students enrolled in this school (academic year 2017/2018). The agro-ecology of the environment is classified as mid-high lands, with and altitude of 2,110 meters. Samuel Beltibo and Esayas Desalegne are the teachers in this school who lead the garden project with motivated students. They started the garden on a 200 m2 area and the main water source is rain water and from the river, found at a distance of 500 meters from the school garden. This garden is sloped to the northeast with fertile, red clay soil and they are planning to organize training sessions on bio-organic farming. They produce local vegetables such as “berango” (highland cabbage), carrots, white cabbage and tomatoes among others, and take good care of the avocado fruit trees with the knowhow acquired during the trainings. They sell the products for school community first with appropriate cost and share the surpluses with outside community. The revenue from gardens product is used to refund the garden project for sustainability.
