It’s berries (i.e. beans) are small and give off an intense floral aroma with delicate almond notes. The plants are cultivated at an elevation of 1,260-1,550 meters, in the shade of big African trees, in a balanced agroecological system. Despite competition from more productive hybrid varieties (distributed for free to farmers), Nyasaland Coffee survives thanksto the perseverance of a few producers who have preserved and cared for the variety over the years. The aim of the Presidium is to safeguard the variety, promote it on the local market, and improve quality.Production area: Miale village (Mooni, Bumboi, Mutoto, and Muyanda local administrations), Bungokho-Mutoto Subcounty, Mbale District, eastern Uganda Technical partners: Enrico Meschini, president of the association Caffè Speciali Certificati (CSC)Tonny Ocana, Coffee Quality Assurance Ltd (CQA)Presidium supported by Intesa Sanpaolo Fund for charitable, social and cultural donations"}
