Though there are slight differences of coloration in the coat, the genetics are identical. This hardy breed is suited to meat and dairy production, and its beef and milk are of excellent quality. Only a few animals are left, scattered around a small number of farms, and the breed faces a number of problems, primarily to do with a lack of genetic diversity. The Presidium wants to revive the farming of the breed and hopes to involve other farmers in the future. Production area: Pavia, Milan, Alessandria and Piacenza provinces, Piedmont regionSeasonality: Varzese-Ottonese-Tortonese beef, cured meats and cheeses are available year-round.
</oembed>
