Valteggina Earth Market

The Valteggina Market is actually a store located in the village of San Piero in Frassino in the municipality of Ortignano Raggiolo in the province of Arezzo.

The store, once a butchery, was taken over by the producer-members of the Valteggina Km0 Association, together with the Slow Food Casentino Convivium and some customers with the support of the Municipal Administration of the Municipality of Ortignano Raggiolo. The activity started in June 2022 and from April 2023 it becomes part of the Earth Markets network.

The store was created to enhance and promote the agricultural and artisanal productions of the Teggina Valley and is, to date, the only food sales reality in Ortiggiano Raggiolo. The bottega market is also an important point of reference for the inhabitants of neighboring municipalities, which have seen a significant decrease in all nearby commercial activities in recent years. This reality represents a concrete possibility to close the supply chain and increase the income of the small businesses present. In addition, even outside of public opening hours, the shop/land market serves as a multifunctional “on-sight” laboratory for processing fruits and vegetables into preserves and baking baked goods.

In addition to weekly openings, the Market “comes out” of the store on several occasions, with the organization of outreach activities, participating in festivals and festivals as a traveling market. The Market is also included in the Festasaggia circuit of festivals and events, promoted by Oltreterra in the Casentino Forest National Park.

The Mercato bottega can be reached either by gentle mobility (on foot or by bicycle since it is located near a bike path) or by car or public transportation. There is a small parking lot in the vicinity of the bottega
