The Naples Earth Market has been activated by Slow Food Naples and involves a dozen small producers who rotate between two very different squares: Giardino Torre and the Fondazione FoQus.
The Giardino Torre market is located within the productive farm that supplied fruits, vegetables, and flowers to the Bourbon Palace, which has been recently restored. This market is at the center of the city’s tourist activities as the woods and the Capodimonte Museum, which welcome thousands of citizens and tourists every year, being the largest urban park in Europe and a huge green lung of Naples.
The Fondazione FoQus market, on the other hand, is located in the heart of the Spanish Quarters of Naples, a densely populated area and central to the commercial life that runs along the Toledo metro line. Here, the aim of the event will be primarily linked to the redevelopment of this space that has been abandoned to degradation and neglected for some time, with the involvement of local institutions and the numerous associations operating in the area.
The Slow Food Naples Convivium animates the market with thematic workshops and awareness-raising activities to guide the public of all ages and backgrounds in discovering local food, expressed in its fantastic biodiversity. The producers themselves, with their raw milk cheeses, naturally leavened bread made with ancient grains, the variety of seasonal fruits and vegetables, oils, honey, and wine, and their attention to sustainability, are ambassadors of these messages.
The Naples Earth Markets have received the patronage of the Second Municipality of Naples. For the market located at Giardino Torre, a collaboration has been started with the manager, Delizie Reali S.c.a.r.l., and with the Superintendence for Archaeology, Fine Arts, and Landscape. Slow Food Naples APS actively collaborates with the Fondazione FoQus on several joint projects.
