Fiesole Earth Market

The Market is promoted by the Association of the Organic District of Fiesole, which includes representatives of agricultural production, associations (Slow Food Firenze, Cittadini per Fiesole, Fondazione Michelucci, etc.), citizens and the Municipality of Fiesole. The territory of Fiesole is dotted with numerous farms, most of which are organic, still representing an asset for the city.

The main product of the Fiesole area is extra virgin olive oil, of the highest quality, produced with passion and professionalism by the small and large farms in the Fiesole countryside. Other local excellences are wine, honey and saffron. The project was created to give new commercial outlets to these agricultural activities, sold in part through Solidarity Purchasing Groups, with the aim of promoting organic and neighbourhood products that respect the principle of good, clean and fair production, and to educate the market public on a correct diet that takes into account all the factors linked to food along the supply chain.

The producers involved in the market are about twenty, from the Fiesole area, Mugello, and other areas near Florence, and bring a wide range of everyday products such as vegetables and fruit, cereals and bread, cheeses, oil, but also wine, beer, saffron and sweet delicacies enriched by the seasonal participation of some companies.
The monthly appointment is in the Piazza del Mercato, whose name derives from the fact that in the past the food market was hosted in this square. From the train station it is possible to reach the market by public transport, by car there is ample parking (with a fee along the streets in the centre of Fiesole, or free of charge) accessible from Piazza Mino by turning left towards the Roman Theatre and continuing to the right on Via Portigiani to the artisan area.
