Candelo Earth Market

For 20 years, the Ricetto Market in Candelo has been an important reference point for the people of Candelo and the citizens of Biella. However, since 2014, the collaboration with the Slow Food Biella Convivium has meant that the participation of small-scale producers in the area has been increasingly conspicuous, going so far as to draw up a memorandum of understanding for the management of a real Slow Food Farmers’ Market. Starting in 2018, the Condotta began experimentation and the process of involving producers, and in mid-2023, it officially concluded the process of annexation to the Earth Markets network.

Every first Sunday of the month, the beautiful village of Candelo’s ricetto comes alive with the presence of some 20 producers, attracting citizens from the province and beyond. The group of thirty producers who have activated the Market offer a wide and varied range of products (beer, toma a maccagn, fresh fruits and vegetables, preserves, honey, hazelnuts, cured meats, grappas, flours and more) and also host Slow Food Presidia from neighboring regions, depending on seasonality.

The Earth Market is supported by FedEx with the collaboration of the Municipality of Candelo.

The Market is easily accessible by train from the main centers of Turin and Milan, with the Turin-Milan–Vercelli-Santhià’ line.
