Boyd community garden is located along Omi Adio, area of Ibadan, along Abeokuta road. The 10 acre community garden is cultivated by six women and twelve men. Within this community garden there are lots of palm trees, a cocoa plantation and cashews. Common crops like maize, cassava, cocoyam, potatoes, yams, soy beans and cowpeas are also grown, along with varieties of vegetable such as okra, tomatoes, peppers, ginger, lettuce, “tete”(African spinach) and “soko”(a variety of amaranth), to be sold in the local market.
The farmers adopt crop rotation and a mixed cropping system to control pests. Composite and green manure are used for soil fertility.
