It is a very rare citrus fruit, which is still being studied. The fruits are small, round, slightly irregular and of a yellowy-orange color. The peel is of medium thickness and the fruit has some seeds on the inside. The pulp is very sour and yellow with an orange hue. The tree is small with willowy branches and dark green leaves; it is also used for ornamental purposes. The fruits resemble limes, also in flavor, but are slightly bigger. Sometimes it is also defined as a mandarin, and its juice is used to acidify sauces and condiments, or to make marmalades.
It is found in northern Mindanao, precisely in the provinces of Bukidnon and Lanao and Misamis.
